Definitely better to invest the money in the better trophy. My experience with the Jackspot prize is that the winners appreciate the recognition, but the prize itself means very little. One idea might be to have a "Jackspot hall of fame" that the winners could apply for, and/or a sticker with their name on that could be sent out to put on their trophy. I think this would be valued more than another mug, booklet or whatever, and would be at minimal cost. I'd imagine that Jackspot winners may even be willing to pay a small sum (e.g. £1) for the privelege. If handled online, I guess that this would at least cover the costs.
