Having suffered under the historic counties rule which sometimes required a round trip of almost 100 miles
we have an ironic situation where the nearest megafinal is across the county boundary.
The difference in distance is very small. The RAC route planner gives the differences in distance as less than two miles
and as the crows fly less than one mile.
Venues change from time to time and I can see the possibility of having to move each time that happens.
As it happens these two megafinals are on different dates which give parents a choice of the most convenient.
I know that the players can go to either but feel that in such circumstances they should be regarded as bona fide entrants and not outsiders.
I would tell players to choose one and they cannot do both.
I do not know how many others are in similar situations nor what is a reasonable radius for overlaps.
10 miles seems reasonable to me. Basically I would like to see some flexibility
and maybe it should be left to megafinal organisers to determine which players are naturally theirs.
